Sovereignty: Jean Bodin’s ever lasting return

Abstract
More than any other concept, Sovereignty is the greatest sign of identity of the modern State. Its crisis has been a focal point of discussion for some time. It is, however, very much alive, active and defines activity within decision-making political institutions. This has been shown throught the Covid 19 pandemic at significant instances. This article offers a contemporary view on the concept of Sovereignty as outlined by Jean Bodin, based in his historical context and his conceptual elements. It explains how he is still a key author in the History of Political Thought and places him as a top thinker within the legal and political debates of the XXI century. Lastly, the reality of Sovereignty in relation with Globalization and balance of powers among States in our current time is approached.
