Abstract
In this lecture, delivered by Thomas Mann in his coast-to-coast lecture tour of the United States in the spring of 1938, we are warned against the spell of fascism. A reform of liberalism is required in order to ensure the victory of democracy, the only form of government that considers and respects human dignity.
