Abstract

After a brief historical review of the works of parliamentary archivists and librarians in the Spanish Contemporary Age, the evolution of the functions of this High performing civil servants body at the Cortes Generales is traced for the 40 years of life of our current Constitution, underlining the importance of coordination as a principle that favors the achievement of transparency and high-minded objectives.


The article ends by transferring to current concepts the traditional functions of this profession: gathering materials, organizing, describing, preserving and disseminating are tasks that can be named in this commemoration, in 2018, digitize, knowledge management, tagging with metadata, seek migration of holdings and uploading of to interchangeable and assembling descriptions to Internet. A challenge for which the action of updating through specialized training has to keep us prepared.
