From “Senate” to @senadoesp, 40 years of communication at the Upper Chamber

Abstract
Communication in the Senate during these last 40 years has been aimed at bringing the Chamber to citizens, initially through the media and now also through social networks with the creation of profiles on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
During this journey, the Senate has opened its debates to all citizens with the emission of its parliamentary meetings on the Chamber's website and has kept its doors open at all times to the media that in these 40 years have multiplied with the appearance of private, regional television and digital newspapers. At this time, the Senate has 26871 accredited journalists and although it is still fighting against the "wall of silence", all eyes are focused on parliamentary work, as was the case with article 155 of the Constitution. The Media Department fulfilled its task: informing, accrediting, organizing the press in the Chamber, providing the TV and radio signal and telling what was happening through social networks. However, it has been working with the media for 40 years, and now also taking on the challenge of direct communication with citizens.
